Thursday evening we enjoyed a wonderful evening of worship, fellowship, celebration and discovery of what the Bible teaches about spiritual gifts. Speakers Christy Gibson and Judi Jackson each modeled their own variety of giftedness through their presentation. Here are a few highlights from their notes...
A Spiritual Gift is the supernatural equipping given by the Triune God to believers to do the work of the church.
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good." 1 Corinthians 12:4-7
What are the gifts? There are different listings found in Scripture:
* Romans 12:6-8
* 1 Corinthians 12:8-10; 28-31
* Ephesians 4:11-12
* 1 Peter 4:10-11
How do gifts work in the body?
* Build up
* Unify
* Do the the work of the church

PRAY - ask God for insight
PLAY - "try on" ministries that interest you and see if they "fit"
SAY "HEY!" - ask your co-laborers in Christ for insight
